On this page you will find a collection of some of my pictures about my life, hobbies, travels, etc.

Familie

First here are two family pictures: my wife and I together in the garden. And at the right my wife, my son, my brother in law and his wife at the Aigille du midi (Mont Blanc). Below my wife and I again and at the right my daughter with her husband.

The words "a better world starts with us ALL" may not be hollow words and we live them out, among other activites, by sponsoring. Via Dorcas and Compassion we sponsor children. We started that long ago by sponsoring a girl, Millicent, in Ghana, until she became 18. Then we continued with sponsoring Tongun in Sudan. An because of several events and our visit to Brazil we now also sponsor two Brazilian girls: Carina en Keli.
With Millicent we have seen that this formula works. Because of our sponsoring Millicent could go to school, get healthy food and clothes and could even study computer science. At the moment she is 25 and still working and studying I am sure many other sponsors can testify the same: we can do something about poverty: sponsoring children, one by one. These pictures are one year newer, taken in summer 2007

And this is Lucas Lopes, our youngest sponsor child

When you are touched by this little story, feel free to donate money to help us sponsor even more children in the future. On my home page you will find a Paypal button that you can use for it. I promise you that all money that comes in this way, will be used

Visit to Brazil in January 2006

After 12 year we kept a promise that we made with our friends Dario and Denise, who worked and lived here in the Netherlands for five years as ex-patriates and had to go back to Brazil again in 1993. We went to Brazil to have vacation time with them. Here we are posing in front of a Ficus tree. Click on the photo to open a photo album with much more photos of Brazil. The captions are Dutch, but I hope that is not a problem; most of the photos speak for itselves.

Inheritence of my father

Secondly some pictures of an inheritence of my father:
In total my father has built nine really working models of steam engines. When you click on each miniature picture, you will open a window with large format photo.

Myself I have also made some models, but of motorcycles.
I built them during my study time, approx. one model each year during Christmas vacation.
You can watch these motor models on a

BMW K-lub Zuid

Since a few months I became also member of a BMW K-type motorcyclists club, besides CMA. This is a motorclub which is started almost one and a half year ago, especially for BMW K-riders, but also other BMW motorcyclists are welcome. Here are two pictures of a "sleutel-dag" (machine practise day). And there is also a group photo, taken during the "Spring Tour"-day in april 2006.

(Click on the group photo to see a large version)

In the near future I hope to add more photos about motor shows and other events with the club.
As the start of that I have made a photo-impression of the (Introduction text is in Dutch, sorry)

NKBV-Hiking tour through the Sinaï desert

In February 2000 I have been on a two weeks expedition: hiking with a group of 10 people in the Sinaï Desert guided by a group of 7 bedouins and 7 camels for the luggage. This vacation is organized by NKBV: "Dutch Royal Mountain Association"The following photo's give some inpression. I must say that this "back-to-basics" time in the desert is what I like to recommend. It changed my life and was the foundation of my "Vision for Life".

YFC-Tour through Greece (1981)

Even further back in time (summer 1981) I have joined a YFC group for a 23-days cultural roundtrip in Greece. For the fun I created a photoimpression of that great event in another form:

Cultural Roundtrip West Anatolia (Turky), mei 2005

And almost 20 years later my wife and I made another cultural vacation, this time 15-days roundtrip Classic Turkye. Click on the picture to watch a top selection of the whole series. In the near future I will add some more.

Mountain vacation impressions

One of my favorite hobbies that I mainly can practised during summer holidays, is mountain hiking. And most favorite has always been hiking in the snow on the glaciers. Above 2500-3000m you get out of the smog and into the fresh mountain air environment. In my youth I have suffered asthmatic bronchitis. Because of this the mustles in my chest have been trained to 'grab air'. This has resulted in me having relative large lung volume. The positive effect of this is especially noticable at higher altitudes, where I have relatively more condition. Below are some photos that I took during hikes above 3000m, even 4000m, in the French and Italian Alps.

1. Just a few hours walk from the camping in Mégève, France.
2. Also in the neighbourhood of Mégève, view on Mont Joli, in the background the Mont Blanc

3. On top of the Dent de Crolles, in the Chartreuse moun tains near Grenoble (France);
on the background the "Belle Donne" area.
4. Daytour to the glacier of Dôme de Louze near mount Rateau, altitude approx. 3600m.
Because the mountain was in hte clouds that day, the temperature with chilling factor was -20°C (-5°F).

5. Picture of Mont Blanc, from the Aiguille du Midi (3842m).

6. View on Barre des Ecrins, the first mountain over 4000m that I climbed with a group of friends.
Without helmet you can reach Dôme de Neige (4020m).

7. Photos from the top of Grand Paradiso taken to the west and to the east.
Ain't this beautiful? In reality it is even much more overwhelming. It makes you small, you feel like an ant.
Belief in God can move mountains. Imagine that!

Here I am on the highest mountian I ever climbed: the Grand Paradiso, Italy's highest mountain, 4061m (13324 ft) and the weather was beautiful, which explains the crowd.

I wish you all the feeling of happiness that I experience at these heights! The immense sense of greatness and freedom, as being a little near to heaven :)
