This picture is pretty recent. I am happily married with Liesbeth and we have two children: Elise (1985) and Robert (1988).
More about me, my work, our family, etc. can be read on a survey page and in more detail on the Interests and hobbies page.
The favorite sites page also tells about my interests and sympathies.
On this site you can read about my work, hobbies and interests. The links to my favorite websites are linked to it. How the name for the site is found can you read below, as also in more detail on the "Vision for Life" page.
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
But let me first introduce myself. I am Fred Mellink. This site is replaces my old personal homepage. Because of my hobby with music (playing keyboard, see also on the related page) I have built a website for my keyboard retailer as a token of gratitude for their great service. Creative communication is one of my strengths and passions. I can display that by playing music, but also by building websites. Just the variety of these hobbies keep it attractive.
When the website for the Keyboard-centrum was almost finished and hosted at Alphamega Hosting Nederland, another challenge for a website came on my way...
Good friends of us have started a project "De Schakel, community care". Because this is about a non-profit care-project and newsletters were distributed to promote it, the creation of a website was a logical next step. The "funny coincidence" was that after creation of the Keyboard shop site I got the idea in mind to make a website for "De Schakel" as a challenge in line with my vision. But one day before I announced my offer my friends have sent a request advertisement in the chuch magazine. The pieces of the puzzle fit exactly. So the site for site voor "De Schakel" became reality.
Building this website was again a next logical step, what will become clear when you read on. The website is, like the old, my former site, bi-lingual. After all English is the global language and also the main internet language.
I have also friends abroad for whom I want to make my site readable. And everybody is invited to read about my "Vision For Life" !
Besides this website I also started a Dutch Web-Log site. and also two English weblogs, at blogspot.com and at Lifewithchrist.org. But to be honest maintaining the regular charity websites I mentioned and having my other hobbies and busy job it is hard to also keep the web-log sites updated frequently.
Lots of fun reading, watching and listening!
From many organizations for charity there there are two I like to emphasize: Compassion and Dorcas:
Compassion en Dorcas:
For many years we sponsor a child via Dorcas:. Imagine that for the price of one night to the cinema with a popcorn you can give somebody in Africa a new future! We have seen this happen with the girl Millicent Otoo from Ghana. We have sponsored approx. 10-12 years, until she became 18 years old. Instead of staying in the circle of poverty she could now go to school. She studied computer science. Now she is 24 years old and earning money to go to university. After her we started sponsoring a boy, Tongun Gore, from Sudan. Instead of joining a jouth street gang he is now living in an orphenage house and gets clothes, food, medical care and education. Latest report about him is very positive. Because of our experiences during our trip around Brazil in january 2006 we became more involved with this country. One of the results is that we recently 'adopted' two more children, little girls in Brazil, Carina Vitoria and Keli Miranda. On the Photo Album Page you can see their photos and read some more about them. Furthermore I became remote webmaster for missionary work in the Amazones, Brazil You can visit the site, which is also Dutch-English, by clicking the banner:

In spring 2006 we started sponsoring another two little girls, Carnia Vitoria en Keli Miranda.
On my Photo Album page you can read more about this and you can see their pictures.
But as I said again: there are so many different charity organizations, that there is no excuse to not contribute to one of those. I like to invite you to watch my Favorite Links Page.
